Module: Sustainable Design

Entry

The problem that we had was the lack of an eco showcase facility in TP. For my part, I added cross ventilation and shading to the second level by giving it high ceilings and two more floors on top. Moreover, I added other recreational spaces such as a game room, cinema room, and study area as well as having eco-showcase exhibition spaces on several levels. A handicap lift was also added right beside the existing stairs. I also improved the greenery and building layout. The recreational spaces combined with the eco-showcase could provide integration between the two for students.

Design Process

Using PBL and Design Process has helped me to understand the site itself as one. I got to try site map analysis, FILA chart, and SWOT analysis to identify what we need to improve. Doing the green building guided me in knowing what were some good suggestions that we could use to improve on our site. One problem that I have faced was the SWOT analysis. At first, I was confused about the difference between 'Weakness' and 'Threats' and could not provide answers for both. However, after clarification, I got a better understanding and could tell the difference.
